Juliana Mitchell, C-IAYT (she/her/hers) is a full time yoga teacher and yoga therapist, living in NYC. She's devoted to the dynamic grace of movement, the healing oasis of stillness and the powerful beauty of awareness and compassion. Her teaching style is precise and playful, emphasizing the journey toward artfully inhabiting our bodies and our lives. Her primary teachers are Patanjali’s "Yoga Sutra", Judith Hanson-Lasater, Mother Nature, her husband & their Marriage.
She’s earned eight Yoga teaching certifications: Restorative, Advanced Restorative & Advanced Yoga Teaching Methodologies (each with Judith Lasater), Pelvic Floor Yoga (with Leslie Howard), Prenatal, 200-Hour Vinyasa Yoga and Yoga Rope Wall, as well as Yoga Therapy (through IAYT). Juliana completed an intensive study at the Atma Vikasa Centre of Yogic Science in Mysore, India. Her ongoing study of The Yoga Sutra of Patanjali and of anatomy & kinesiology keeps her inspired and challenged..
Teaching since 2005, she’s taught yoga in person across eight countries on six continents and online across numerous countries & continents too. Her work is primarily in two avenues: One is the teaching of private classes (in-person & online) for people seeking nuanced class adapted to they unique needs. Two is leading programs for yoga teachers; including trainings in anatomy & kinesiology and specialized teacher trainings such as her Prenatal Yoga Teacher Trainings and a Restorative Yoga Teacher Training. She also teaches a few, weekly, group asana (yoga pose) classes.
Juliana had the privilege of acting as prenatal Yoga mentor to Dr. Shilpa Babbar, an obstetrician conducting a randomized controlled trial to measure the impact of prenatal yoga on fetal behavior (Truman Medical Center, Kansas City). Additionaly she provided advisement to Dr. Barbara Chuback, a urologist out of Mount Sinai Hospital, on her plans to to assess the impact of yoga on a key type of pelvic floor dysfunction.
To date, she’s attended 4 births and officiated 4 unions.
